I feel so horrible On my way to the toilet this morning i heard squeaks where i shouldn't have been hearing them.. I had a poke and found that my new baby girl had given birth to 9 babies! I bought her like 2 and a half weeks ago and she was tiny so i tried fattening her by feeding her lots of yummies. I did notice she was getting chubby but i thought that was from me pumping all that food into her And what's worse is i have her and Clover in the same cage together! Clover is the little DU that i found eating one of my 4 week old PEWs.. They were together because they can both slip out of the big girls cage and i didn't want them alone. I am sooo glad that poor Krystal is ok! I'll post pics and updates on how everyone is going a few times a week.

Well, Clover strikes again... She's eaten all but three of the bubs. She has been moved and will now be permanently on her own.

I have always found, that once a rat has a taste for rats, the same with mice, they keep doing it everytime they're with someone. Pretty sad, but I guess they love the taste of they're mates.
Those babies look pretty cute though in the pic.
I hope your day gets better soon........

Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like she is only ever hurting the babies. I don't think it's necessary to let her live her life out by herself. :/ I'm very sorry for all your losses. Rats just drive you up the wall sometimes, don't they?

I was going to take her out but then i saw her all curled up with mum and bubs and she was looking after them. I thought it would be ok Yes i've tried her with older rats but it had the same result. I'm not ever going to make this mistake again. She will have to be on her own from now on.

What exactly is she doing? Is she killing rats or just not getting along?

So she is eating other fully grown, fully matured rats?
Sorry if we seem so skeptical but wow, it's hard to believe. I've never heard of this before and I never thought I would hear it. :/ She's such a beautiful girl, it's so sad that she is doing this. I'm sorry.
