Wow. Over reaction much?
Can someone point out a specific LAW that stops you from taking photos of minors in public places? Yes, I know there are guidelines for sporting clubs and schools etc, but I'm asking for a law.
In Australia, generally speaking, there is no law restricting photography of people (including children) in public spaces as long as the images are not considered as:
* indecent (such as “up skirt” or “downblouse” photographs taken covertly in change rooms, toilets or other invasions of privacy) * being used for voyeurism or made for the purpose of observing and visually recording the other person’s genital or anal region * protected by a court order (eg. child custody or witness protection) * defamatory * being for commercial purposes (person’s likeness is used to entice people to buy or it appears they are endorsing a product). This may require a Model Release/Consent Form to be signed

I think appleeyes might be right but I dont know know what the law is so i cant comment. It makes sense, you cant be in a public place, taking a photo of inanimate objects (for example) and ask everyone in the background to move away every time otherwise you'd be taking "illegal" photos of kids.
Probably something worth researching guys.

Im not saying dont take a photo of something, with people in the background. But deliberately taking a photo of a kid, is different.

i wasn;t deliberatley taking a photo of a kid. i was taking photos of where i lived and the areas around it. I thought that the day care centre was a nice touch so took a photo. the kids were all going inside and i thought the kid was out of the photo by the time the camera took the shot. i also cropped it cos i thought it was sweet

Here we go everyone: www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/pdf/publications/brochures/children-and-the-media/Corporate-Fact-Sheet3.pdf"Public places There is currently no one specific piece of legislation preventing people from taking photos of children and young people in public places, unless the person photographing or filming creates a ‘public nuisance’. This only applies to the photographer or camera-person if their conduct is ‘offensive’ or ‘threatening’ and likely to interfere with public enjoyment of a public place (under s6 of the Queensland Summary Offences Act 2005)."

I'll assume it's up to the admins to decide whether the photo can remain.
Alice - you had good intentions, unfortunately the minority of people who do the wrong thing in our society are the ones to blame for laws such as these.

She's so cute Here's one I took at a medieval fair - I love jousting each year I try to get better photos Unless I'm mistaken, that horse's name is Cloud and I had the pleasure of riding him a few years back when I was involved in that sort of thing! ;D

I don't know if Luke owns Cloud, but he might, but Luke wasn't riding Cloud last I heard. I do know Luke, though. I've lost touch with them all since I got ill a few years ago.

Sounds familiar though... This was at the Abbey Tournament at Caboolture... I remember his name easiest out of the jousters cause he's been jousting the last 4 years I went.
At the tournament they tell you the riders name and horses name but I cant remember all of them, but that's why Luke & Cloud might be correct. He's always the crowd favourite lol.
