Someone has come to us for help with his rats. He said that they have scabs on their ears and swollen red noses.. I've told him to go get it checked out with the vet ASAP.
He bathed them in something to get rid of mites and lice. So, it can't them.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone knows what it is..?

It could be scaratopic (or something..) mites. Or it could be allergic to something.

Just bathing them (even in a flea/lice/mite rinse) won't get rid of the bugs if that's what it is. Has he treated them with ivermectin or revolution, something along those lines? The scabby ears does sound like sarcoptes mites. ratguide.com/health/figures/ectoparasites_figure_2.php

No, we've told him he should get revolution though. We've given him the priceless pets link. It's just a matter of whether he gets some or not.
I'll keep annoying him til he does =)
