I agree with Sandra for the DU.
For the new boy though it is hard to see, however I would say he is either buff or dove. If he looks like a light shade of mink he is probably dove, but from the photo he looks buff to me. Sandra has two good photos comparing buff and dove that she showed me for my litter (turns out I actually did get one dove in that litter) so if she pops up she might show them to you. He probably doesn't have black eyes but very dark ruby eyes.

I had him out last night and had a good look at his eyes and he does have really dark ruby eyes. He's a really weird rat lol his fur looks longer than usual and the base of his hair appears dark

I hope she show's up with the photos. I thought my little rex boy was a buff hooded, but now he's with my two dove girls (spayed) I'm not so sure... =P

ok due to popular demand here are the two boys on the left is the buff and on the right is the dove. when you get the babies really young or you breed them yourself, it is much easier to tell them apart as only mink based bubs get the little pale molt caps. So if your light bub gets an almost white cap you know it is dove for sure. Hope this helps you all out

Thanks for that BN i'm leaning towards him being buff.
Now we just have to figure out what the go is with his fur lol it's longer than normal very silky but doesn't look wet and it's darker at the root so when he stretches out and his fur parts it looks a little black..

They're very close in colour! Mer does look more buff when compared to that picture. He's six weeks old and i've had him since 3 1/2 and he never had the mink moult- nor were there any minks in his litter which I would expect if he were a dove. He just looks so much like Holly!
